No es fácil llegar a la portada de un periódico tan británico como The Times. Hace falta mucha perseverancia y, sobre todo, imaginación. Galactic Suite es el ambicioso proeycto que creará el primer hotel espacial del mundo. El arquitecto Xavier Claramunt, que también es ingeniero aereoespacial, ha diseñado el resort espacial apra orbitar la Tierra a 450Kms. de distancia y 30.000Km/h de velocidad. Un grupo de emprendedores catalanes busca llevar un robot a la superficie lunar en el marco del concurso “Google Lunar X Prize”, dotado con un premio de 20 millones de dólares. Como si de un episodio de la mítica serie de dibujos animados Los autos locos se tratara, Google y X-prize Foundation han convocado la competición espacial Google Lunar X Prize. La carrera tiene como misión llevar un robot a la Luna y que éste sea capaz de recorrer 500 metros y enviar imágenes y datos a la Tierra.

BEST HOTEL IN THE GALAXY – BUT WHERE IS THE ATMOSPHERE?
Most people’s idea of a weekend getaway might be a break in the Cotswolds, Devon or perhaps Provence. A select group of well-heeled adventurers, however, may soon be able to aim higher: three nights in a hotel in space.
The new breed of tourists will see the Sun rise 80 times during their stay, the Spanish tour operator says, but it admits that the bill for the journey of a lifetime will be an astronomical £2.7 million.

SPACE HOTEL TO OPEN TO TOURISTS IN 2012
The first hotel in space will be open for business and accepting tourists by 2012 after an anonymous billionaire space enthusiast granted $3billion to finance the project.
But future space visitors will have to pack their credit cards as the Galactic Suite Space Resort will charge 3 million euros for a three-night stay and eight-week training course on a tropical island before the trip.

“Galactic Suite”, the first hotel planned in space, expects to open for business in 2012 and would allow guests to travel around the world in 80 minutes.
Its Barcelona-based architects say the space hotel will be the most expensive in the galaxy, costing $4 million for a three-day stay.
During that time guests would see the sun rise 15 times a day and use Velcro suits to crawl around their pod rooms by sticking themselves to the walls like Spiderman.
Company director Xavier Claramunt says, “It’s the bathrooms in zero gravity that are the biggest.

CATALUÑA QUIERE PONER UN ROBOT EN LA SUPERFICIE LUNAR
Cataluña participará en la competición espacial internacional Google Lunar X Prize, una carrera en la que toman parte 16 países y que premiará con 30 millones de dólares al equipo que logre poner un robot en la superficie de la Luna antes del 31 de diciembre de 2012, informa Efe.

Barcelona, June 2009.- In Barcelona, a group of aerospace architects and engineers have set up the Galactic Suite Design company, whose core activity is the creation of concepts and design for the aerospace sector.
The new company has been set up with a view to becoming a reference in design in the aerospace industry, a sector regarded as strategic and which may constitute a way out of the current economic situation. In Catalonia alone, this industry recorded a turnover of 112 million Euros in 2007, which represents 3% of the total for Spain, and provides employment to almost 900 people.
The new company, which dates back to the beginning of 2006 with the design of the first space hotel, Galactic Suite (http://www.galacticsuite.com/), offers its services to companies from the aerospace sector that seek to renew their concepts and reorient their products to satisfy people. We’re watching the sun rise for the one-hundredth time. It’s the last day of our six-day stay in the Galactic Suite, and seeing the sun slide into view from behind the earth is still an amazing sight. When compared with our trip to the Himalayas in 2011 and our expedition to Antarctica the previous year, this holiday tops them both. For a mere €3 million, the organizers even threw in an all-inclusive 16-week stay on a tropical island, where we learned everything an astro-tourist needs to know before rocketing into space.
